Ir. Kok Yen Kwan

Ir. Kok Yen Kwan is currently focusing his work on sustainability, energy management and also building inspection audit (specializing in Safety & Compliance) – where he is both a Trainer & Inspector accredited by Architect Centre Sdn. Bhd. (a subsidiary of the Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia focusing on property inspection & building advisory services to the Malaysian public); and have inspected more than 75 installations of various types on electrical safety & compliance issues over the past 5-years.

One of his most notable work in the inspection field was leading a team of Competent Electrical Personnel in successfully completing the Electrical In-Service Inspection & Assessment of both the British High Commissioner’s Malaysia Office in Menara Binjai, as well as the official residence along Jalan Langgak Golf, Kuala Lumpur during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In addition to his engineering role, Ir. Kok currently also serves as Technical Advisor to Solarvest Group (one of Malaysia’s leading, largest & award-winning integrated solar provider), reflecting his commitment to renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure development in Malaysia.

Professionally, he is a former Vice President of The Electrical & Electronics Association of Malaysia (for sessions 2019 – 2021 & 2021 – 2023) and chaired it’s Engineering Construction & Services Specialized Group; and have also previously chaired the Green Energy Technology Committee, as well as represented the association as an Esteemed Judge at both the iProperty Development Excellence Awards (iDEAS) 2017 & both editions of MBAM’s Construction Industry Trade Awards (CITA) 2019 & 2021.

He has also contributed as a Committee Member (as representative of TEEAM) on the drafting of the Building Sector Energy Efficiency Regulations (BSEER) as part of the overall drafting of the Energy Efficiency Conservation Act (EECA).

Furthermore, he has also served as a 5-term Board Member of the Malaysia Green Building Council (MGBC) from 2012 to 2017 and have chaired the Standing Committee on Events, Media & Communications. He has also sat on the Panel of Assessors on the first 4 editions of the MGBC-published Green Pages Malaysia (GPM) Directories; and is also sitting on the Panel of Judges for the Eco Product & Eco Booth Design Awards @ ARCHIDEX for the past 7-years.
